They need to be united on something bigger than clan. All of Geledi much less D&M can't agree based on qabiil, so I doubt all of Somalia will agree based on qabiil. So u need a higher calling. Nationalism, maybe, but we been at war for so long, that I think that might not be an option now. Most Somali's have a soft spot for the Islamic groups, from Kismaayo all the way to Awdal, they have support. I think the best hope for Somalia is for the more extreme elements of Shabaab to be destroyed and a group closer to the ideals of the ICU to take over.

If the terrorist groups take over you can expect women having zero rights, Somalia being an international pariah state, and the clock being winded back several hundred years in social progress (for goodness sake the people banned English). Let there be a thousand years of civil strife before terrorist scum preside over the people with the Ak 47.

That which we fear is generally weaker and less destructive then fear itself.

We cannot continue to implement the same techniques on ever lasting issues and expect different results. We lack basic negotiation skills and we all tend to impose our own expectations on all those around us and each awaiting their perspective accepted without compromise.

My brother in Islam Shirib, you are definitely on the mark. Godane and his crew should get out of the way and we need more religious group that don't have her eyes outside of Somalia'a borders (NP: Ogaden and NFD are in Somalia's borders in my view) and has no worldwide campaign.

They are the ones calling the shots whether we call them terrorists or Mahdi army. These guys are the only ppl willing to die for their cause.

As much as we may hate them, the question "do we have any alternative?" still remains unanswered. If you think the western world with their fancy nickname "international community (IC)" is helping Somalia, think again. They have been building and dismantling TFG since Abdiqasim era. None of those short lived governments wanted to be overthrown but the IC did it.

Some of you argue that we have democracy in Somalia and the TFG is democratically elected. This notion is false and misleading. The west used Abdulahi Yusuf to eliminate the ICU then picked up Sheik Sharif from the border area and gave him 250 extra seats in the parliament to make sure he becomes the next president. That's 100% increase of the parliament size. You see what they are doing! They told us we needed a parliament and gave us the number of seats. Then they doubled the size to fit into their plan. Basically TFG is a faction created, funded and maintained by foreigners who are using Somalia for their own gain, whatever that is. Every Somali in this faction is there for his personal benefits.

To sum it up, the conflict is between western money vs Alqaeda convictions. The shababs are are willing to die for their convictions. Are you willing to die for above described TFG?
