They had class and patriotic attitude towards them self and others. When I see documentary from those days people dress nice
and fashionable. Everyone was busy with life no one even had time to stare at the camera man like it's something out of mars.
They all seem civilized and ready to conquer Africa. The potential the Somali people had and the encourage were led down by the
Barre dictatorship, if he only share the power and the wealth with all part of Somalis we wouldn't have had problems until this day,
just my opinion.

Somalis these days look as if they were released from rehab and ready to go back to society
everyone is looking to fight to death for the qabiil and yet they have no clue why ,,,

and worse part,there's no respect and caring for their fellow Somalis

Somalis in the 50s were under the colonial Empiret hey were paving the road for independence,, Somalis in the 60s were tasting the unity and freedom short lived democracies. Somalis in 70s were exposed to socialism Communism nepotism kacaanism . Somalis in the 80s were rebels and were fighting injustice and for independence. , Somalis in the 90s were relieved.

When I see documentary from those days people dress nice and fashionable.

I laugh when somalis mention that somalis back in those days dressed 'fashionable' so they prefer to see their mothers and sisters without hijab and dressing half naked.
To be honest I can't really say that I would have liked to live in a particular era, even though I would like to live back home permenantly, because this happened by allah's will and even if I did live back in the 50s, 60s, 70s etc who's to say I would live as comfortable as my life today (alxamdulillah) e.g. if I focus on the experiences of my parents life back then was really hard as it is today, my dad was working since he was 12.

cajiib!!! you guys are obsessed with tall buildings. when you can have your own villa, why in the world would you need a tall building. plus the population in Mogadishu at the time was so small that, economic wise, no one had the guts to build tall buildings. besides, tall buildings are built for reasons and Somalia had none of these reasons.
