Thanks for the info, but if i go by your logic then the prices must be cheaper right now because the country is in war, am i right?Monk-of-Mogadishu wrote:It depends on your location. My family's farms sit on probably the single most strategic location in Somalia, directly on a river and surrounded by water reservoirs and small lakes, you can't find better land in Somaliweyn let alone Somalia. Unfortunately, the only way to estimate costs during this time of war is to go by the offers we have been made. The last I know of was a man who offered $4,000 per hectare, we have 600 hectares in total and he wanted to buy 200 of them. He was a commercial buyer so he offered far less than valued, I would multiply his offer by four to get minimum real-world value. Prices vary during war times but below is a good estimate of peacetime values per hectare.
Shabelle Hoose/Afgooye - $15,000 - $20,000 per hectare
Shabelle Hoose/Marka - $10,000 - $15,000
Hiiraan/Bulo Burde - $10,000 - 15,000
Jubbada Dhexe/Jilib - $10,000-15,000
Jubbada Hoose/Jamaame - $15,000 - 20,000
Gedo/Baardheere - $10,000 - 15,000
Shabelle Dhexe/Jowhar - $10,000-15,000
Bay/Bakool regions - $5,000 - 10,000
Those are the main agriculture belts in Somalia and that is what I think they are worth when you include many factors. I have my reasons for believing in those final values.
*A hectare is 2 acres by the way, and an acre is about the 3/4 the size of a football field so a hectare is about a football field and a half.
Good to knowMonk-of-Mogadishu wrote:Yes, prices are cheaper because of war. And you won't be discriminated against because of your clan, in Jamaame there are tons of Majerteen families living among Biimaal, Tunni, Jareerweyn and other exotic clans. Its a heavenly place. There's even a commercial farm called Hargeysa Yare owned by Isaaqs.
Are all of the areas you mentioned controlled by them?Monk-of-Mogadishu wrote:Its run by Al-Shabaab, which is why its the safest place in Somalia today.
Well if they are still in controll summer 2011, then im buying a cimaamad and khamis. Then i wont get killed by themMonk-of-Mogadishu wrote:Yeah, they just took over Afgooye today in fact.
