Daawada Sawirada ee BAHRAIN, motherfuckeriinyahow!!

Post by Monk-of-Mogadishu »

Normally I do not post photos of cheesy petro-states but Bahrain has less oil reserves than Albania at only 124 million barrels! Puntland alone has an estimated 5 - 10 BILLION barrels. Bahrain's capital Manama is modest and also has other service-based commerce industries. Take a look into the future. Now Bahrain, tomorrow Bosaso :-}

Somalia can look like that without the use of a single natural resource. It all depends on how the money is handled. I'd prioritize education, healthcare and transportation infrastructure before even thinking about commercial and residential development but it can easily be done. However, if we're looking at Somalia's trade economy PLUS potential resource gains, then we're looking damn good.

I think the prospect of finding oil is high. Today you look at neighboring Kenya and Ethiopia; peaceful countries yet no one is even venturing for oil. Back in the 80s, Conoco, Amoco, Chevron, Shell, and BP were all staking out turf in Somalia; Conoco spent $150 million to explore and research around Garowe. Today Range Resources Australia is still in negotiations with Conoco to buy all of that information instead of shelling out cash to do all the ground work although they, along with Qatar, UAE and Kuwait have already spent millions in Puntland over just the last 5 years to hold concessions. UAE alone has pledged $46 million to turn Bosaso into a strategic trade zone. Right now the tally spent in Puntland by these resource hunters nears $100 million, mostly in the form of defense contracts and development contracts (Kuwait built the Mog. University in Bosaso, Qatar built the Al-Manhal hospital, UAE is still working on the airport and free trade zone & soon to start on the port).

one thing i respect about Puntland, they sure know how to use their contacts..
They made the right choice with courting arabs in particular...

somaliland was hostile towards the arabs and we did not benfit from them...

we should have been more political...

The Europeans have proven to be useless.....

i admit that there was no one in charge from 2002 till 2010 but still its still a loss..

8 years of loss...
