Somalis in Kenya (not just sijuu, but all those somalis that fled live in Nairobi) are more successfull when it comes to business and education and more influential than those Somalis that live in Ethiopia or Addisababa.
Everybody knows world famous Eastlieght(Islii) neighborhood in Nairobi and malls or markets such as Garissa Lodge, Somalis own hotels, malls and are connected to Dubia, America and Europe, while I never heard of a Somali neighborhood in Addisababa or a Somali mall or business like the one in Islii.
considering that there are as many Somalis in Ethiopia as in Kenya if not more, why are they behind in every aspect of life?
is there more freedom in Kenya? is it because Ethiopia is just a backward country and doesn't have as good economy, education, freedom as Kenya?
Are Somalis in Kenya more successful than those in Ethiopia?

Ethiopia is a socialist, oppressive, closed economy. Kenya is a liberal, open country that welcomes all forms of business and competition while Ethiopia views financial prosperity from non-government related sources to be a threat.

well said Ethiopia is more of oligopolgy where the market is controlled by a minority group called Effort and is entirely run by Tigrayans while in Kenya its more of liberalised and there are alot of wealthy individuals from whites, arabs , asians to africans of all sorts.Monk-of-Mogadishu wrote:Ethiopia is a socialist, oppressive, closed economy. Yea, that is what I always wondered. there are over 75 million ppl in ethiopia and they living under the rule of 1% of the population that control everything, the rest don't have the freedom to do whatever they want.Monk-of-Mogadishu wrote:Ethiopia is a socialist, oppressive, closed economy. last time they even jailed the famous Teddy Afro, because the government didn't like one of his songs.

^^Wrong Ironman, teddy was jailed for killing a man while driving( I think I heard he even fled the scene). Actually with him being a freeman currently and all he kind of got a slap on the wrist with him commiting manslaughter.

That is true, in Kenya the market is in form of Monopolistic competition. Anyone who can afford can start business or leave the market, while on other hand Ethiopia is more like monopoly.
I heard Tanzania is also great place to start business at.

Not even sure if they would let the Somalis buy homes. If i had the money i would build houses in Ethiopia and rent it to the Somali. cunu qabad aan kusameyla haa.
