SNM Secessionist LeaderAhmed Siilaanyo Continue uttering the Baseless Secessionist Propaganda

A recent interview with the SNM a.k.a. Somaliland leader Mr. Siilaanyo in which, as always, his answers are false, misleading, and misrepresent the facts of the situation
Why should the international community recognize Somaliland?
Siilaanyo: We’re democratic, peaceful and cooperate with the international community. And we’re a bulwark against threats coming from Somalia, which are also a threat to the international community…The internationally recognized secession of South Sudan, which is expected on Jan. 9, strengthens our case.
How do the piracy and the chaos in Somalia affect Somaliland?
Siilaanyo: We don’t have any power to change the situation in Somalia. But the international community assists us in keeping the violence away, because this is a war between extremism and the international community.
Most people confuse Somaliland and Somalia. Wouldn’t it be a good idea to get a new name?
Siilaanyo: The name is always under discussion, but this has been our name since 1888. We’re an old country.
Now, let’s analyse the secessionist leader’s responses. He says, we’re democratic, peaceful, and cooperate with the international community. However, the democracy he refers to is a bogus exercise that the one clan Isaaq orchestrates to fool the international community. The three so called political parties represent the 3 Isaaq sub clans the habar Awal, Gar-higis, and habar habuusheed. All the other non Isaaq northern tribes, who own 75% of the northern territories and constitute the majority in population, oppose the secession project and completely do not participate in the fake one clan elections.
In terms of peace, the north of Somalia is far from peaceful. Somalis and the international community are fully aware of the dangerous on going conflict and civil war in the Sool, Sanaag, and cayn regions (SSC) between the secessionists and the SSC unionists. The conflict also involves the other two northern regional territories of Awdal and Makhir, where the fast majority of the population is against the secession and the one clan regional administration a.k.a Somaliland.
In the interview Siilaanyo states, “…and we cooperate with the international community...” It’s fair to ask, on what grounds do the secessionists cooperate with the international community? Siilaanyo is correct, if the cooperation he points to is how the international community may help the secessionists force and subjugate the other northern communities. Unfortunately, this kind of cooperation is against the stated objectives of the international community in enhancing democracy and peaceful co-existence among communities.
The secessionist leader further deceitfully tries to win the sympathy of the international community in his assertion that the secessionists are a bulwark against extremism and the threats coming from Somalia! The truth of the matter is that all the extremism and threats are originating from the secessionists a.k.a. Somaliland. The Case in point is the well documented facts that the Shabaab leader Ahmed Abdi Godane, his high ranking aids, and thousands Shabaab militia are from the secessionist tribes a.k.a Somaliland. These secessionists who are leading the Shabaab did not happen to be there by coincidence, but rather function in the southern part of Somalia in a well coordinated plan supervised by the secessionist administration called Somaliland in the north. The idea is to create mayhem in the south to win recognition for the secession.
In addition, the secessionist war criminal says, “ …The internationally recognized secession of South Sudan, which is expected on Jan. 9, strengthens our case.”
Well, whatever outcome of the South Sudan referendum, Mr. Siilaanyo forgets that the South Sudan issue is totally different than the political and tribal problems of Somalia. However, for argument’s sake, if in any way the Southern Sudan secession helps the Isaaq secession, it will also strengthen the self determination of Sool, Sanaag, and Cayn (SSC), Makhir, and Awdal, all these regional states in the north of Somalia who reject the secession. It will also assist other communities in elsewhere such as, the Ogaden, the Oromo in Ethiopia.
As far as the colonial name “British Somaliland Protectorate” is concerned, the name was a temporary one imposed on the Somali people in the north without their consent. Fortunately, this colonial name had ceased to exist with the departure of the British colonial power. During the colonial era, the northern part of Somalia was not a country but a colony and the Somali communities in the north were known by the names of their tribes and not as a nation. As is the case in the present day, Mr. Siilaanyo, his father, grand parents, other secessionists were identified as Isaaqs, the SSC were the Dhulbahante, the Awdal and Seylac were the Samaroon and Essa, and the Makhir are the Warsangeli. Thus, Somalis were individual tribes before the arrival of/during the colonialism, and reverted to tribes after the collapse of the Somali government in 1991. The only one time period that Somalis had formed a country and a nation is the time of independence July 1, 1960 - the union between the two colonial parts in the south and north.
Therefore, the way forward is either these Somali nomadic tribes come together and re-establish the Somali nation and the Somali country in a mutually working fashion for all, or else every individual Somali tribe will stay away from others to fend for itself. The latter scenario is self defeating and surely a recipe for collective failure.
In conclusion, it’s to be clarified that the one clan secessionist a.k.a Somaliland is engaged in a war of resources and land grab on the expenses of the other northern tribes. For example, any oil prospects in the north of Somalia are unlikely to be found in the secessionist tribal areas, but all explorations conducted to date indicate that substantial oil reserves are likely to be in the territories of the Awdal, Makhir, and SSC. Hence, the secessionists are relentless to achieve an international recognition in the hope to controlling the oil resources in the north and eventually displacing the other northern tribes altogether.
However, the SSC, Awdal, and makhir states in the north of Somalia will stand united in the face of the secessionist aggression, greed and beyond doubt will defeat the doomed secession project. Needless to say, the oil prospects in the north belong to the Makhirs, Awdalites, and SSC and would not in any circumstances allow the secessionists have a foothold in those regional states or have a say in the matter of oil resources. The situation will remain so, as long as the secessionists drumming the secession agenda.
