A lot of scholars say this has been invented after the prophet passed away and has no place in Islam. Which camp is right? no idea.

Re: Nabi amaan Macaana!
waryaa your confusing, nabi amaan has been present since the time of the prophet when sahaba would praise him with their poems, and defend him with poetry against other poets.

I feel peacefull with Nabi imman.....It reminds me whom I am ....A muslim even if we all sinners.....the prophet unites all muslims....Perfect_Order wrote:waryaa your confusing, nabi amaan has been present since the time of the prophet when sahaba would praise him with their poems, and defend him with poetry against other poets.
Re: Nabi amaan Macaana!
perfect, really? Then how come you don't hear nabi amam in most mosques in somalia and the middle east. Even in the west.

Re: Nabi amaan Macaana!
in somali you hear it every thursday night, and A LOT OF places in middle east. It is just the Mowlid on the birthday of the prophet that people disagree about. He is Muhammad pbuh "the one who is praised" by virtue of his name.
Re: Nabi amaan Macaana!
i am not against this ritual lakin here are some facts:
Minneapolis: I heard nabi aman in ONLY one tiny mosque within Cedar community premises.
UAE: Never heard
Bosaso: I just called a local and he said they do that in one mosque called masajidka xerta.
Galkacyo: You can here it in all parts of the city.
All this tells you that Muslim scholars who do not approve it outnumber the other camp.

Beautiful as you, my eyes have never seen,
with grace like yours, one has never been born
Born free from all fault,
Born as though you had yourself wished to be,
As though the Lord of Muhammad and the Soul of Muhammad
had come face to face,
The Lord of Muhammad asks the Soul of Muhammad
‘Tell me my beloved, how shall I create you’.

Re: Nabi amaan Macaana!
Here is what is wrong with your argument.
1. just because it isn't a regular occurrence doesn't necessarily mean that people are against it.
2. where ever you are doesn't necessairly mean that it is a proportionate representation of the muslim ummah or even country. Let's say if you go to ogadenia you will hear it everythursday night, doesn't mean all muslims do it. If you go to yemen you will hear it, if you to syria, turkey, pakistan, iraq, so many countries.
3. UAE are predominately salafi's so they are not in much favor of these kind of things.
4. What is your definition of scholars, because they'res only a handful of muslim scholars in the world in our age.
Anyway nabi amaan isn't even a very controversial thing,
And if you look at usually older generation of somalis you will see they are very pro it, while younger generations are a bit more against these things.
heres one in jeddah saudi arabia

Re: Nabi amaan Macaana!
When I saw his light shining forth,
In fear I covered my eyes with my palms,
Afraid for my sight because of the beauty of his form.
So I was scarcely able to look at him at all.
The lights from his light are drowned in his light
and his faces shines out like the sun and moon in one.
A spirit of light lodged in a body like the moon,
a mantle made up of brilliant shining stars.
I bore it until I could bear it no longer.
I found the taste of patience to be like bitter aloes.
I could find no remedy to bring me relief
other than delighting in the sight of the one I love.
Even if he had not brought any clear signs with him,
the sight of him would dispense with the need for them.
Muhammad is a human being but not like other human beings.
Rather he is a flawless diamond and the rest of mankind is just stones.
Blessings be on him so that perhaps Allah may have mercy on us
on that burning Day when the Fire is roaring forth its sparks.

WSM thanks abayoo
Hassan Ibn thabit ra was one of the great sahabi's, and renown for his skills in verse, and he often praised the prophet in his poems with skill and beauty. May allah have mercy on them both.
I love how he alludes to the great Intercession by the Prophet, and may Allah make us among those who receive the intercession of his beloved prophet. amin

BUT my point is ppl who do not practice this (in mosques) are more than those who do it, at least to the places I mentioned. Yes, of course if a lot of knowledgeable scholars in Islam encouraged it it would be normal practice in our mosques and other gatherings.
