*Rolls up her sleeves*
Right, after the lustful scrubbing my skin raw, the donning of some crystal encrusted studs and a brand new Diiric sheed with a matching garbasaar- I am ready to dance my soul out in tribute to the dawning of the another Happy New Year. That or I can just as easily curl up with a sweet cup of Somali tea and Mahatma Ghandi style wrap myself round a massive fleece. *Adjusts her buusto around her and sits back to relax for a moment before starting up again*
A close cousin of mine is getting married soon and asked me for tips on the best types of Somali Songs for weddings. So being the obliging magnificent human being that I am I gladly gave her a wonderful list full of priceless little gems. Incidentally it got me thinking about what my own list would comprise of.
Thus without furtherdo, I present to you the greatest top 10 Somali wedding songs ever. Vote for your favourite people if you must or if you’re so inclined- do feel free to add your own personal favourite songs to the list. The more the merrier I supppose
Now let us start the NEW YEAR wedding song fest!
1. Ciirsi-Saynab Cige iyo Cabi Naasir- Qaulity, a great song to start the wedding with and it melts even the most cynical, ice-cold non romantic’s into a singing and reluctantly dancing mass of euphorically pickled happiness.
2. Carafo- Cawaale Adan -Truly romantic and sweet, look at the ilbaax skinny Somali rock to the tune. Whoever said skinny, black men lack sex appeal obviously hasn’t come across our Djiboutian cousin. *Starts cheerleading* “Go Cawaale”
3. Dayax nuurayaad tahay- Abdulqadir Juuba- This is probably my definitive Somali song ever! God it just reduces me into a sweating mass of orgasmic palpitations, hell the very veins in my body go into spasm whenever my ears catch wind of this piece of musical brilliance! And….I'm yet to even mention the lyrics.

4. Qaabojiye- Abdi Jamac- This one is for the closet ravers at the end of the night when you decide to fling class, demure and graceful elegance out of the window in exchange of some down right insane free style Somali dance moves. Don’t look at me like that you know we’ve all done it.
5. Maweelo- Hibo Nuura- Another Somali clubber’s dance anthem- a typical wedding song which causes every red bloodied Somali within a three mile radius to start rocking those rolling tight shoulders to the rhythm-hitting every beat with musical precision.
