It is stated that when we are born everything that goes on in our lifetime is written down, so that also includes death, and wether or not if we are going to hell or heaven. since this is the case then how is it our choice to do good and/or do bad if was already predestined for us to go to one or the other?
and yes i do my deen don't start questioning me and i am not questioning it either just curious.

If you believe destiny controls everything then free will does not exist. Personally I believe destiny is the program of your life just like the computer programs, you can change the direction of your programs/life by changing and replacing the programs that you don’t like with the ones you like, simple as that, that is how i see
Re: SERIOUS ANSWERS ONLY
It is a very complicated and philosophical! It is like you can and cannot choose your destiny at the same time. I just had this discussion with a good friend of mine a day or so ago. Do I have a serious answer? nope

thats what am asking because it is already written for you at birth that your either going to hell or heaven so if we were to do good or bad that still doesn't change where your going to go in the after life because its writtenKa darag wrote:Does qadr mean Allah knows whether we are going hell or heaven already? marka what would be the point of yaum al qiyamah?

you cannot change what is already prewritten for you just like you cannot change when you are going to dieGoljano Lion wrote:If you believe destiny controls everything then free will does not exist. Re: SERIOUS ANSWERS ONLY
if you are saying everything was predestined, then why we have a freewill to make choices then so the experience of choice was just an illusion miyaaLadyyonelove wrote:thats what am asking because it is already written for you at birth that your either going to hell or heaven so if we were to do good or bad that still doesn't change where your going to go in the after life because its writtenKa darag wrote:Does qadr mean Allah knows whether we are going hell or heaven already? marka what would be the point of yaum al qiyamah?

Re: SERIOUS ANSWERS ONLY
thats what am asking., because obiviously it was WRITTEN down for us that would either go to hell or heaven so why then would be living life as we are today making the choices that we are making today when everything is written for us wouldn't that defeat the purpose of yumal qiyama? death? judgment day?

i got your point but i am asking you, if that is the case, then why we have the freewill to make choices good or bad, what is the purpose of having freewill, i believe if free will does exist, then there can be no destinyLadyyonelove wrote:thats what am asking., because obiviously it was WRITTEN down for us that would either go to hell or heaven so why then would be living life as we are today making the choices that we are making today when everything is written for us wouldn't that defeat the purpose of yumal qiyama? death? judgment day?

Re: SERIOUS ANSWERS ONLY
i asked a shaykh this question and he told me that we do have freewill to decide what we do in life, who we marry, whether we do good etc but since allah swt is all-knowing god already knows what you're going to do. you're living this life one second at a time, but allah swt already knows what you will do next and where you will end up. anyway, that's what the shaykh told me and i hope it helped you in some way.

Re: SERIOUS ANSWERS ONLY
I think there is no free will cos free will was given by Allah anyway so it's not really free...imo, he controls our actions, but we think we have control over them
am i making any sense?
EDIT: I need to rethink this

Re: SERIOUS ANSWERS ONLY
let me first say that these questions of free will/destiny is first of all a sign of weak iman and borderline shirk. you are basically saying that the signs of allah, his creations, his work and his messengers isn't sufficient enough for you to believe in him and his word. SUBHANALLAH! it is recommended that you pray 2 rakah sunnah and glorify ALLAH by reciting the shahada, Allahu Akbar, Subxanallah, Alhamdulilah etc etc.

"The truth is from your Lord, so never be among the doubters."
