Belet-Weyne — At least one Somali soldier and another civilian injured after the transitional federal government forces clashed with Ethiopian military troops in Hiran region of central Somalia, reports said on Thursday.

The confrontation, which lasted a limited amount of time, sparked after Ethiopian forces took a Somali soldier into custody in Jawil district just out side of Belet-weyne town, the regional capital of Hiran.

Somali forces in the area had been outraged by the Ethiopian move and in response Somalis attacked Ethiopians in the region.

Reports from Jawil district, right now, confirm clam has returned in that place as guns fell silent.

The clash is said to be a clear sign that Ethiopian forces, which had already crossed into Somalia, are present inside Somalia soil.

Forces from Ethiopia routinely cross into southern and central Somalia because it fears Islamists whose numbers are growing, experts said.

Late in 2006, a large number of Ethiopian troops endorsing the former leader of the Somali Transitional Federal Government, Abdullahi Yusuf Ahmed, invaded Somalia and managed to dislodge the Union of Islamic Courts that used to rule much of southern and central Somalia.

During the invasion, more than 20,000 people died and 1.5 million were displaced

We will see how Prime minister Farmaajo responds to this.

what's the beef between amxaro and their allies? The same thing is happening near gedo border too. Is it possible the Ethiopians want the shababs to gain more ground so that their UN military proposals against them get approved more easily and quickly?

A interesting thought. Neverthenless the Ethiopians in Somali Soil is already problem enough.

To be called soldiers, the real somali soldiers with pride and patriotic attitude
Wouldn't fight with enemy in the country instead they would dig them out
in their own homes

2KM Government can't complain when a country they do not control is invaded as they are behind the invasions/incursions. We have always been good at killing each other while others violate every aspect of our nationhood.

Kenyans killing our people and evicting them from somali lands in the NFD while Ethiopians do the same in the Og region

We are heading for UN trusteeship as we can't accept anyone from a different qawil to hold a position above one of our own qawil.

It seems like their is a grand plan to hold the status quo for a further 20years in that time a vast majority of the diaspora somalis will have mixed race children.

The diluted will have no interest in returning to africa.

omar, that's a very wise advice - I hope it gets heard by the right people. I always tell somalis to concentrate on their neighborhoods and local politics (i mean get local) instead of losing sleep over never ending barbarian wars in faraway somalia.

somali politics is clan based and it's dangerous thing to be involved.
whatever you want or not you will force to have clan mentality and with no time you feel argue to defend the one you think is your kin cause he could bring your clan name up. !!!

in 20 years Somaliland will be a Super Power.
