Are Somalis growing out of tribalism?

Post by Voltage »

I have noticed lately fewer and fewer topics are about clan and the forum is a complete turnaround from the hot mess it was a while back. What's even more interesting is the younger generation is not picking up the torch to continue the level of tribalistic rhetoric with the exception of the insulated Somaliland kids and some of the Kacaan babies. Interesting thing to witness. In general Somalis everywhere are becoming less and less obsessed with tribalism.

Its soomaalinimo/islaanimo vs kaafirnmo/khawaarijnimo. The battle lines have been drawn.

voltage, there's something I know that you may be interested in. Tribal business is more alive in diaspora than in Somalia. In the old days, if let's say Muse Sudi said our tribe is under threat and calls all men he'd get almost every man in the tribe. Now things have changed even Sheik Sharif does not have clan militia he trusts very much. He trusts AMISOM soldiers more. You are right somalis are fed up with this phenomena but the diaspora is still lagging. Things are all about interest in Somalia now.
