
Al-Shabaab controls virtually all of the south save for Dolow town run by Barre Hiraale's ASWJ group. Central Somalia's cluster of quasi-independent states of Central Somali State, Ximan and Xeeb and Galmudug (all of whom are now largely under the ASWJ umbrella of military cooperation) as well as ASWJ's own administration of the highway towns into Hiiraan stand as a precarious obstacle between Puntland and Al-Shabaab.
AMISOM and TFG forces have managed to retain control of the airport,seaport and Villa Somalia, but little else.
Somaliland continues their steady advance across the disputed territories, though Buuhoodle has retained their independence thus far.
Somalia has been reduced down from dozens of different factions to basically 4 factions, one of which doesn't consider itself part of Somalia: Somaliland, Puntland, ASWJ and Al-Shabaab.
