Young Somalis who left from Minnesota to join Alshabaab militia in Somalia; what caused them to live from Minnesota to Somalia. The answer is simple and fast forward. They were offered alot of money and they were promised that they will come back in 2 months or so. I have said many times over and over again that all those young somalis were not religious or nationalist so the question is what motivated them to go to Somalia and fight alongside with Alshabaab.
The answer is short. Vacation and Money period. The masjid of abu bakr has raised over 8 million U.S dollars from the small or big donors who gives those money to masjid abu bakar to help somali society….. The men who recruited these young men atleast had an access most of these money if not all of them… The recruiter offered those young men alot of money to come for the winter and he promised them they will come back alive to Minnesota… Most of them they did not interest to die but they wanted to go over there and come back may be in the summer of 2010 and get all of those money was offered to them.
That was the main motivation. I never believe those young men were religious… Money motivates human being more than ever. Certainly those young men left from Minnesota went there hoping they will come back and use all the money was offered by the recruiters. There is alot of investigation is going on what motivates these kids to go to Somalia? in order to get the correct answer you do not need to look all the things that caused them to live from Minnesota to reveal the correct answer but you need to think the narrow minded Somali thinking in order to get exact answer and that is correct way to investigate…
the question is why those young men were offered that huge money for the first place?
They wanted to recruit more young Somalis in Somalia by using these somalis who left Minnesota and they did it well. They did attract alot of Somalis to join their fights. Unfortunately all of them were forced to fight and die in the process. Those who tried to run away were killed and murdered..
Their dream was turn down and no one ever used the huge amount of money that motivated them to go their in Somalia for first place.
My conclusion after I listen and read many somali coments and investigate these matter by myself. I have concluded that what motivated them was not for the sake of Allah but for the sake of the mighty dollar. You may disagree with me but I have to tell you this. It is my pleasure for me to investigate these particular case these far.
