No, wuthering heart is worst than jane eyre, to be honest. In jane eyre there are some characters i 'may' kinda like. In wuthering heights i hate all them. :x

Wuthering Heights is dark and depressing and honestly so. Jane Eyre tries to turn dark and depressing into a love story and that is depressing. Horta at the end he gets his eye sight back doesn't he? Isn't that the most retarded story line ever?

Though to be fair I can't remember the ending of WH...

i remember correctly--both heathcliff and his love die in the end. the book ends with their offsprings i think. depressing.

You are correct- jane eyre is trying to turn a depressing story into a love story. I dont like the lead hero being blind and the plain looking heroine coming to save him. How can u have a plain looking heroine??? :x :x :x And how can u do the saving? A blind prince on a white horse? Give me a break! :x

Wuthering heights, has an uncanny crazy baby love, that borders madness, and that i dont like. I like perfect--no heart invested kinda love. U know--jane austen kinda love. :D Proper gardens, perfect china cup teas, and all that goody goody.

In Jane Eyre, i like the new found cousins of jane eyre later. When she discovers she has inherited some fortune, from a dead uncle. In a glimpse, she inherits a female cousins and a male. That is my favorite part of the whole story. I only watch that and delete the rest of the story from my recording device.

Oh yeah, Heathcliff ends up torturing their kids doesn't he, and then the young girl, Cathy's niece I think, she ends up with the "brute" shaqaalo guy  Lakin I don't see how what Heathcliff and Cathy had can be called love! That was saddistic, tortured, painful obsession.

That story is just fantastically grim, you can sense that the brontes actually did grow up in a farm far far far away from society.

Jane Eyre was an early feminist though, dignified and proud through her hardship, or so it's been argued.

Nothing beats the fickle, witty romance stories in Jane Austen books though, those characters hardly had anything to worry about...the whole story is, he loves me, he loves me not, he loves me...

black velvel,

walaal, may i say i detest u. My self absoption, and self centeredness, made me read the part where you call jane eyre as 'dignified and proud', as Jane austen and not jane eyre. Alas, when you inserted that gentle diss of jane austen, which can be worthy of an austen wit, i was a little bit irritated. And that was your goal i know.

No, there is NO dignity and pride in jane eyre. She is pathetic. :x She forces herself on a man, who gives her the first attention. What feminist? there is no clue that she is a feminist. all i see is a plain woman who was grateful and flabagasted that a rich mad man chose her of all the bitch.es in the farm praire land. :x :x :x

PS: pardon me, i am a bit irritated. :)

I didn't read the book so my view may be biased based on the adaptation I watched lakin I distinctly remember her calm demeanour. She wasn't wealthy but she was responsible for her welfare unlike naagaha badankooda in society who very dependent on the men and couldn't get anything done without them. She seemed more independent and I don't remember her throwing herself on the guy. I remember he was rude and distant, how did they even end up falling in love? Come to think of it I can't remember them saying 2 words to each other :?

  bv u r such a nasty little chubby, thigh clapping nonesense!!

Ok first of all, i didnt say, she threw himself on him. However, it is interesting, that, that is what u took from the 'adaptations' that you have watched. :) He started persueing her, and she accepted of course. He was a married man, who locked his lunatic wife in a room. To her credit--she refused to be his mistress, then she refused to be his wife, when she found out he had a wife. So i give her prove. I have nothing against her really--except she is plain, that saddens me. Jane Austen heroines, are perfect, beautiful, witty, intelligent, and all come from a respectble, comfortable family. All her heroines were amazing, Lizzy--was the daughter of a rich gentleman.Catherine and fanny price from northanger and mansfield park, are the poorest of them all. Emma was the prettiest, and the richest. She owned an estate all to herself. Anne from persuasion and eleanor and marriane from s & s were rich enough, until they met richers husbands.

I am educating you my bv---u should clap.

Nayaa leave my thighs out of this you anorexic little wench :o

But at least we agree that Jane Austen stories though entertaining were very fickle and the Brontes were trying to hard to be poignant/enthralling, or whatever it was they were trying to be.

Elizabeth Bennet, the best romantic heroine out of all the ones you mentioned  The others were all kinda annoying in their own way.
