Ahmed Silaanyo Somalia's Radovan Karadzic

The SNM a,k.a Somaliland leader, war criminal Ahmed Silaanyo is worst than Radovan Karadzic as he is responsible for the death of tens of thousands of SSC unarmed civilians during the 1980s and 1990s.

The war criminal Ahmed Silaanyo has last week orderd his tribal militia to make the SSC territories of Kalshale, Maygaagle, and Hagoogane new Isaaq militia bases. The objective of Silaanyo in implementing this new aggressive stragtegy is to attack and conquer additinal SSC territories including Buhodle, the capital of the cayn Regional Administration. All observers familiar with the security situation in SSC territories are warning of the dangerous consequences of such aggression against SSC, as it will result in the death and displacement of hundreds of thousands of innocent SSC citizens in the northern part of Somalia.

Silaanyo, in his latest interview with the Economist (Another country-in-waiting), has made clear of his intentions to wipe out the SSC population from their territories in north Somalia. The following are excerpts:

Baobab: Tensions exist in Somaliland's eastern regions, where clan authorities there do not recognise Somaliland's authority and Puntland [a region of Somalia which seeks autonomy under a federal system] lays claim to territory. Such tensions affected the conduct of the presidential election there. How are you addressing these?

AS (Ahmed Silaanyo): We have opened a dialogue with elders and traditional leaders there. We have already sent a very high-level delegation there, and many of those leaders have responded positively. At the same time, we have begun development programmes there, in water supplies and other needs. But there is no doubt about it: we are strengthening our forces there. The borders are not something that can be negotiated, that is a matter of state security. But there is nothing to stop us holding talks with the elders and we are optimistic about these.

In his response, Ahmed Silaanyo, the war criminal, says, "...the borders are not something that can be negotiated..." Silaanyo, the chicken minded as he nowadays is called, refers to his Isaaq tribe's 1991 ill advised decision to secesde from the rest of Somalia. In 1991, the Isaaq tribe unilaterally declared a secession and completely ignored the other tribes of the north who unanimously oppose any secession of Somalia. The SSC, Awdal, Makhir, and others in the north are unionist communities in the north of Somalia, and they make up the majority of the population in the north.

The question for secesionist Silaanyo, if one tribe's (Isaaq) decision in 1991 to secede from Somalia is not negotiable, how about the decision that all Somalis made in 1960 that sealed the Union of the northern and southern parts of Somalia? Isn't it more difficicult to renegotiate???

As far as aggression is concerned, Silaanyo who is totally blind in his genocide against the Sool, Sanaag, and Cayn territories (SSC) at one point responds, "But there is no doubt about it: We are strengthening our forces there..." why is he responding so confidently? Because the war criminal feels successful in getting away with his earlier killings in the 1980s and 1990s, this is a declaration of his new commitment to launch additional waves of massacres in the SSC.

Also, Silaanyo's claim of negotiations with SSC traditional leaders and his talk about development projects in the SSC regions is baseless. The SSC traditional leaders and political leadership has made it known that any negotiations with the secessionist tribe will be only around their peaceful withdrawal of the SSC territories, peaceful co-existence, and mutual cooperation as neighborly federal states under Somalia's federal system.

On the other hand, the secessionist administration a.k.a. Somaliland has declared bankruptcy. Media reports confirm that the secesionist militia in the SSC areas has staged a mutiny against Silaanyo and has withdrawn from some areas in the SSC this month. The secesionist militia is said to be protesting of lack of salary payments for many months. Other reports substantiate the existence of many people and families who died as a result of hunger in the town of Hargeisa, the secessionist tribe's administrative capital. And Silaanyo's assertion of earmarking develpment projects for SSC is a joke, given such economical and financial stresses that the secesionist tribe is undergoing, What Silaanyo allocated for the SSC, if he gets his way, is genocide, ethnic cleansing, masscres, death and destruction, and displacement.

The SSC leadership is calling upon the international community to immediately intervene and stop the madness of Silaanyo, Somalia's Radovan karadzic, and his newly found looming ethnic cleansing project against the Sool, Sanaag, and cayn (SSC).
