Do any of your families used to own Houses in Mogadishu?

Post by Coeus »

But had to leave them when the war erupted?

My abti, my dad and my mother lived in Mogadishu and had 4 different houses, they sttled there 1979 and they left Somalia 1988, and moved to Sweden. My abti moved back to hargeisa where he owned large tracks of lands.

Have any of you guys families still have property in xamar? :?

Nice man  :)

By the way if the owner doesnt posses the documents to prove that this is his personal property, is that property forever lost

It depends if u father was widely known then he is fine otherwise people will likely steal it. For example my mom mothersid all live in Xamar and keep an eye on all properties just incase if bombs hit. Some even live in some of the houses, atleast family are there.

Was a little before the war, was about the time afweyne started throwing out and killing all Isaaqs and Hawiyes with big positions in Xamar.

It was an autonomous company that was not funded by the government. My father was the GM and head of the company, he was making a lot of money from it and was originally a civil engineer and was educated in the US and Soviet Union(Russia). Then had to and luckily I should add flee the country, so all that hard work for nothing

Cool Not aware of that, sound strange to have a privatized water supply. But the somali govt had a its own water supplies and a dedicate ministry for water. The water supply in Xamar was funded by the World Bank, maybe your dad was a subcontractor.
