Well people there are another 2000 troops being trained and armed for TFG-part16 which will end AUG2011. These men will have no jobs when Sharif leaves. To support their families they have 3 options:

1. Use the weapons for piracy
2. Join Shabab
3. Start their own terror group

... The story continues TFG-part17 will request troop training once again and police training.

 Zero inheritance between successive Transitional leaders!

Nothing new here except unusually high casualty figure. If you're reading Somali news, you know that this is something that happens very often, minimum once a week. Fighting among themselves is like a second hobby for them after robbing civilians. Usually there are just 1 or 2 guys dead or wounded, but this time they were going all out. No surprise, when police and soldiers for TFG are just a bunch of thugs and mooriyaans who only took this job for paycheck (if they would even get it once in a while). They don't have to follow any Islamic rules, what is excepted from them that they take their gun and go out fighting al-Shabaab. Whatever the cause for their weekly skirmish was this time, I believe it's some qabiil BS or other mooryaanish motives. Anyway, troops of TFG are useless trash just like their superiors.

Individual soldiers of al-Shabaab make mistakes too and sometimes act outside of rules, but collectively and compared to their rivals in TFG they are very disciplined. You don't see them fighting with each other for who gets the loot, or because they come from different clans etc. There is Islamic code of conduct that's excepted from them and punishments for violators.

So called TFG army is in same category with Bloods and Crips rather than being a real army. Al-Shabaab is the closest thing to army what we have.
