Where the fock do all these 'soldiers' that get trained go? Since Shareef came I've heard about 10's of thousands of soldiers being trained in Djibouti, Kenya, Uganda, etc. Where do they all go?

Somalia has right now over 8000 Somali Soldiers. But only a fraction of these are used. As of next week 4000 trained Somalis will arrive.

The reason these Somalis dont fight is because they are ill equipped and the goveremnt uses Amisom instead. That is why farmaajo wants increased engagement from the world, so that Somali soldiers can have better uniforms and equipment.

RIght now, they are only soldiers with ill equipment

I allso support the idea of khadafi..its better to train Somali soldiers and spend all te money on equipment for Somali soldiers then the fufu's.

It makes sense why Sland and Pland are worried, the Sharif is building a super army perhabs.

The ugandan and burundi Soldiers eat 3 full meals a day, have logistics and Equipment support and they are trained and stationed in the warzone.

Until the goverment can do the exact the same for Somali soldiers, then we are dependent on Amisom. That is why international engagement is important for the TFG so that they can get the money for this.

On the good side though, the Italians agreed with farmaajo and they will train the Somali anti terrorist police AND pay the TFG

Murax, those trained troops were few thousand boys who were taught basic urban warfare without commitment to provide them good salary, proper body armour, and also proper uniform code of military discipline and proper judicial training for these newly trained security forces. There were no training for Sergeants, lieutenants, captains, majors, lieutenant colonels, colonels, and generals. Since the controlled civil war was on for twenty years, many of the former Somali forces are old and need help to reform the new Somali security forces. Basically, the boys that were trained were put there as a cannon fodder for those who were pulling the strings behind the scene.

President Gaddafi's offer is a great compromise 'cause he is against the imposition of foreign forces into Somalia and at the sametime he is for the strengthening of Somali security forces. The brotherly Libyan president showed the hypocrisy between the so-called concern about piracy and 'terrorists' where in fact all of the efforts of the so-called 'international community' were half-hearted measures. I might add we also need these to concur with a new effort to reconcile any differences between all Somali stakeholders including Al-Shabaab. It is time cool heads should prevail amongst all Somalis and we try to see the bigger bicture.

Good move on the part of the great Jamahiriya president.

Perhabs they need to initiate officer training programs alongside all these troop training???

Troops need leaders and i wouldnt trust TFG... Perhabs attract diaspora graduates for officer taining programes?

We cant speak of somali army as long there are arab and african invaders
Its a occupied country which needs to be liberated first, then announce the Islamic Republic of Somalia with the blue flag shahada in the middle

al shabaab trains their soldiers feed them clothe the and the world is against them..now how come the tfg with all the support in the world cant compete with them?

al shabaab trains their soldiers feed them clothe and the world is against them..now how come the tfg with all the support in the world cant compete with them?

Saaxib Al shabab can be easily taken out. The reason this hasnt happened are because of three reasons.

1. Amisom is in Somalia as a peacekeeping army. Therefore their mission is only to protect and be stationed all the time, they will only fight when they see Al shabab closing and thats why we read all these articles saying Al shabab attacked amisom bases.

2. The TFG was very corrupt prior to Farmaajo coming in the picture. The Somali army did even desert the TFG because of salaries not being payed.

3. Al shabab never confronts Amisom, they usually hide with Hijaab on and they throw grenades. Or do hit and run attacks.
