Muslims continue to kill Muslims

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Heavily armed insurgents attacked Iraqi police checkpoints with rocket-propelled grenades in western Baghdad on Wednesday and heavy clashes broke out, police and witnesses said.

Around 40 insurgents, some of them wearing masks, could be seen brandishing weapons in the streets of Hay al-Jamma, a district in the west of the city, shortly after they attacked the checkpoints with rockets and assault rifles.

A Reuters cameraman at the scene said at least six police vehicles were on fire and gunfire and explosions could be heard.

The police said they had called for reinforcement from U.S. forces to repel the attacks.

Hay al-Jamma is close to the Amiriya district, which has been a stronghold of the Sunni insurgency over the past two years.

Iraqi security forces conducted raids in Amiriya and Ghaziliya, in northwestern Baghdad, late on Tuesday, rounding up several suspected insurgent ringleaders.

A senior U.S. military official in Baghdad said on Wednesday his forces were bracing for an insurgent onslaught as the Shi'ite-dominated Iraqi parliament prepares to adopt a new constitution this week, against Sunni opposition.

"We believe that the enemy is still ... intending to conduct some larger-scale operation in Baghdad associated with the release (of the constitution)," he said

Mad, yes, also there are killings in places like Somalia and other Muslim tribal countries . However, many condemn any Muslim who kills another Muslim. It is against Islam. It is even against Islam to fight with non-Muslims except for self defence. There is no excuse for a Muslim killing another Muslim. But what surprises me most is that it is America's making of all these violences in Iraq. Although you seem so concerned by the violence in Muslim areas, you do not realize that there are more killings in America than there could ever be in the Middle East, Somalia and other tribal violences combined. Check this out. About 30,000 people die every year from gun related incidents in America. Add that to other forms of murder/killings in America. You cannot get 30,000+ killings to equal that of America in Muslim countries from day to day. If this is the criterion for condemning the Muslims as violent, then by sheer numbers, America is far more violent that the entire Muslim world. It is No.1 Laughing .

I certainly do not expect you to accept this, however.......................

It is true, that violent crime in the US is an issue. Although certainly the Middle East is far more violent right now than America is, at least per capita. But there is a critical difference: Middle East violence tends to revolve around politics. American violence tends to revolve around criminal greed. Not sure which is worse.

See the below gragh. Violent crime in America has been receding for some time. But America has an essentially violent culture that comes from its history. That will prove very difficult to change and has less to do with laws (which reflect its culture) than with the attitudes of the populace.
