EU local statement on the recent violent confrontations near Buhodle and Las Anod

The EU Delegation issues the following statement in coordination with the EU Heads of Mission
in Nairobi:

The EU has noted with deep concern the recent violent confrontations near Buhodle and Las
Anod.

These clashes undermine the security and stability of Somaliland and Puntland and further
disrupt the livelihoods of the people in this area.

The EU calls on all parties involved to exercise restraint to immediately defuse the situation and
to seek a solution to differences through peaceful means.

The EU remains committed to support development efforts by the people of Somaliland and
Puntland, and is concerned that clashes and tensions like the ones witnessed could compromise
such efforts.
