I came accross this Hadith@

Narrated Ibn 'Abbas: The Prophet said: "I was shown the Hell-fire and that the majority of its dwellers were women who were ungrateful." It was asked, "Do they disbelieve in Allah?" (or are they ungrateful to Allah?) He replied, "They are ungrateful to their husbands and are ungrateful for the favors and the good (charitable deeds) done to them. If you have always been good (benevolent) to one of them and then she sees something in you (not of her liking), she will say, 'I have never received any good from you." Sahih Bukhari, Volume 1, Book 2, Number 28

There are multiple reasons why our gender makes up the majority in hell.

One could easily argue that there are more females than men *clearly visible*, plus there is also an authentic hadith which states that our Prophet (saw) said that when qiyaamah is nearby the ratio of women to men will be 50:1.

When the prophet (saw) was asked why females are the majority in hell, he replied back with the following statement..

I was shown the Hell-fire and that the majority of its dwellers were women who were ungrateful." It was asked, "Do they disbelieve in Allah?" (or are they ungrateful to Allah?) He replied, "They are ungrateful to their husbands and are ungrateful for the favors and the good (charitable deeds) done to them. If you have always been good (benevolent) to one of them and then she sees something in you (not of her liking), she will say, 'I have never received any good from you.

The above statement is the main reason why the Prophet (saw) urges females to give more in charity.. Remember even a SMILE is charity.. ... So take this...

Btw there are also hadiths which claim that females will also outnumber men in Jannah by a large bulk...

^There's a massive difference between the Quran and Hadith..

The Quran = Allah's (swt) exact words..
The Quran was brought down from Allah in the same exact content and wording as it's in today...
While the Hadith is also from Allah.. But it is not Allah's own words.. As our Prophet (saw) expressed them in his own words/actions!

They are both from Allah though..

I heard it's not women per-se,but the maqqam of woman,i.e including men that act,behave and immitate women.Hence the majority
