Gifts never hurt, Rasul himself scw said giving gifts brings love between relationships
And dress nicely, but you don't have to buy anything to fancy.

I'm not too sure to be honest, I haven't seen anyone bringing gifts for their future-in-laws on a getting to know visit. They usually bring the money and whatever when he is offically asking for her hand. I personally don't think he has to bring anything, but I guess it wouldn't hurt if you bought her mum a perfume set and the dad similar, that would be nice gesture.

You don't have to, that's why it's nice if you do.
It definitely breaks the ice and it's a nice thought. Shouldn't matter what you take though like Warsan said perfume/cologne is always a safe bet.

Just bring the cash for the 'suuriyo' and they'll be more than happy

I think a gift is a little too much.. Sorta a little tiny winnie bit desperate..
Cute but a little too much you know..

Haa dee suriyo is a cultural thing that you technically have to give. Kan lakin is a personal touch that is a choice, kan kale is just respecting culture and it becomes baqiilnimo if not done.Murax wrote:BlackVelvet wrote:Murax and WestLdn waa A class cheapskates

Plus he's talking about the first meeting. Who takes suriyo to the first meeting? That takes the piss

I like to skip all the formalities, and just get down to business

Really though I don't think its the bride or groom who actually do the gift type stuff I think its the two families that kinda work that stuff out amongst themselves.
BV, Seriously though You really insulted me today. Baqiilnimo is a terrible quality. I may be a lot of bad things, but baqiil is not one of them

lool @ get down to business, no wasting time on your behalf
I guess I just think it's a nice thing, if I'm being introduced to my future mother in-law I am definitely taking a present, but then again, I'm not baqiil
Haye and neither are you

Re: meeting your inlaws for the first time

I dont think it has anything to do with being cheap.. If someone is a gift bringing junkie than hey by all means bring the gifts on.. But if one isn't, Marka what's with the ''fakeness''..

All I'm saying is, he should be himself! He shouldn't feel he HAS TO bring something!.. What is he buying their approval/love?..
