UK Increases Aid to Somaliland

Post by AsadSL »

UK Secretary of State Andrew Mitchell visited Hargesia on January 31, where he explained that 40 percent of UK’s aid to Somalia will go to Somaliland. Somaliland has shown that greater democracy and stable government are possible, even in this difficult country.

Beesha Hawiye Action Group [HAG] are the only ones pleased with this move. It is deserved and hopefully the next step is to move to a position of 50/50 split of Aid intended for the former somali republic.

The republic was the result of the union of 2 states as such allocations should reflect a 50/50 split in awards of assistance. Perhabs even offset the balance in favour fo somaliland and reward the positive.

After all $500million of pirate money is circulating in the state of somalia. If piracy does not stop the move should be 100% allocation to Sland. That would end piracy ina fortnight

ASAK brother and sisters getting AID is one to rejoice. Subxanallah if a peaceful Somalia existed this would be a shame and you rejoy over poor mans offering. Very shameful of Somalis even posting such a post. It is rather good news to see Puntland advancing with petroleum and resources which can draw billions in revenue in the future over peanut butter crumble aid. The real losers are Somalis and the ones who rejoice over its division and victory with penny Aid. Think before you post a shameful piece which you think is gold.

Your brother

He's telling the truth.

It's embarrassing that we don't have anything useful to offer the world except goats and bananas. SMH

SSC control the tiny town of buuhodle and no where else. Somaliland is outside that town watching what leave the tulo and is not entering for political purposes. A person that understands politics knows somaliland wouldn't have a hard time entering the tiny tulos but is hold themselves.

Pres Siilaanyo meets with British officials today.

bro, there are studies that confirm this

after the ogaden war, Somalia was bankrupt and had to go to the IMF... which then laid out structural adjustment programs. In short, Somalia was forced to liberalize its economy in exchange for loans.

The major source of income was banana exports in the 80s... and the livestock ban by Saudi Arabia really hurt

Over half of Somalia's national budget was aid... and tax evasion became a national sport

even before the war, aid was the major source of revenue... and since independence
