China starts its biggest move in UN; leading Somalia issue

I guess China is now becoming confident as a world power and is using it to push the Somali issue. Farmaajo has already left for New York.
UN aims to bring Somalia off the 'forgotten' list
The international community will on Thursday again try to rally to the cause of war-torn Somalia's UN-backed government, which has launched its biggest offensive yet against Islamist insurgents.
The UN Security Council will hold a special meeting against the backdrop of a major land push against the al-Shabaab militia in which dozens of African Union troops have been killed, while an international flotilla battles pirates.
If a death toll of at least 400 000 from the country's 20-year-long civil war nightmare was not enough, the UN estimates more than two million people are now threatened by drought.
Somalia is jockeying for global attention with the Libya revolt and the Côte d'Ivoire conflict.
But China called the Security Council meeting, which gives the strongest recognition yet of the need for an effective government if Somalia -- which many call the "ultimate failed state" -- is to stand any chance of recovery.
....
China's emphasis on putting Somalia high on the Security Council agenda has also been welcomed by European nations, who have spent heavily on equipment and training for Amisom and Somali forces.

China is making a play for Somalia's resources (Uranium and Oil), the corrupt TFG has signed away many rights to offshore oil to China, they are seeking to protect their investment, nothing more.

The civilians will never see a single Cent of that money once it enters the TFg's hands for sure.

India opened an embassy in Mogadishu, Somalia in March 2011.
China is now calling for the complete support of Somalia government.
Good move on the part of China and Somalis should seize this opprtunity to strengthen the Somali security forces and dialogue should be open any members of Al-Shabaab members and leaders who wants to join this government.
You look at the Libya's war and it is very obvious how big powers are competing for the resources rich countries.
We, Somalis, should take advantage of this Chinese interest.

There they go the supporters of the secessionist project. These people get sick of any opportunity that gives hope to the return of a viable Somali government.

China is the best strategic partner You can have. They don't involve in a Countries internal affairs, politics, etc. they just keep things purely business unlike the West that adds a lot of strings
