If you were raised as a non black person and you don't consider yourself black then it is understandable why you would find the experience traumatic. The race labels were created by Europians and group people together for ease of classification.

Imagine Arabs, indians, srilankans, afgans, malasians, mongolian,etc all being classed under the same label.
