Mogadishu (RBC) Somalia cabinet of ministers agreed to appoint Mr Aidid Abdulahi Ilka Hanaf, former lawyer and member of Somalia federal parliament.

After extraordinary meeting chaired by the Prime Minister Mohamed Abdulahi Mohamed on Saturday afternoon, the cabinet issued a decree to appoint the chief of the Supreme Court. The cabinet unanimously voted to fire the former chief of the Supreme Court.

Spokesman for the office of the prime minister told reporters in Mogadishu that the appointment is aimed to reinvigorate the country’s judiciary and to restore the functioning of the national courts.

The new chief of the court Mr. Aidid Ilka Hanaf is seen as close ally to President Sheikh Sharif.

The court’s main duty is to interpret the laws of the country and the constitution on the contentious matters.

In my view, this guy will nullify any thing that Shariif Xasan Sheekh Aadan and his TFG parliamentary allies come up with  It is a pre-emption blow by the TFG executive against any future moves from Shariif Xasan Sheekh Aadan and his TFG parliamentary. It appears the previous guy was not willing to side with the TFG executive and they pre-empted him and restored a guy who is allied with them.

Powe struggle games are never endless in Somalia.
