Even though the sheikh is Shia, there is some truth to some of what he is saying.
But from what I heard, beating is only allowed as the last resort, and not on trivial things such as washing your cloth or cooking food for you, you could do those stuff by yourself, its something that you can't do by yourself, and that may cause you to fall into Zinah/sin, such as if she refuses to have sex with you. but first you admonish or advise her, than you don't share the bed with her, than only do you have that option.
