How can a place that's not recognized as being independent have an independence day?

Re: Our 20th anniversary
It's my humble opinion that pro Sl camps should rewrite their script in arguing for recognition in the following ways:
1- They should emphatically make it clear they are not breaking away from Somalia, rather the current pursuit of separation is out of desperation and necessity. This would re-frame the argument, and the recognition of SL would be portrayed as something that would benefit all of the Somalis.
2-That when a somali Govt forms in the south, they would gladly put it up for a referendum to the people
3-They should cut the umbilical cord that connects to Addis ababa. Ethiopia long made clear it will not recognize SL, and SL gains nothing from such uneven relationship other than the hatred of the average Somali individual.
4- Realize that Djbouti is independent, Kenya is Independent, the point being Independent does not equate with prosperity. This delusion that being recognized would solve all the problems is far from reality.
Using this kind of reasoning, SL would be seen as a semi-independent state that arose out of necessity rather than some tribe trying its luck.
my 2 cents.

Congrats to the Somaliland state for turning into a beckon of stability and striving to develop its state with limited resources. Somaliland on its own right puts sub-Saharan African states to shame.
Lets hope Mogadishu and and other areas of Somalia will be stable and get back on their feet.
I think the Somalia flag looks amazing!
