A man has been jailed after he forced his 84-year-old mother live in a garden shed - so he could rent out her room.
Police found the elderly victim malnourished, dehydrated and covered in maggots in the cramped outside room.
Sei Hee Park is feared to have been kept in the shed in temperatures of over 80 degrees for up to two weeks after her son Pastro Jang-Sung Park evicted her from the home they shared.
Park told detectives after his arrest that he needed money and wanted to rent out his mother's room at their house in Dania Beach, Florida.
An arrest report revealed the shed had no electricity, running water and was barely big enough to contain a single bed.
It also revealed that when rescued by paramedics a worm was found to be burrowing into her neck and other maggots were on her face.
Park told investigators that he had been taking care of his mother and bringing her food and water each day. He denied abusing her.
But a police spokesman Veda Coleman-Wright said: 'I've never seen anything like that. Not in a living human being anyway.

'He actually said he didn't see anything wrong with it.

'His reason for putting his mom in this tool shed, he said, were financial reasons.

'He told our detectives that he needed money, and he needed to rent out the rooms in the house.'

The elderly woman was rushed to hospital in Broward County where she is responding to treatment.
Park's wife visited her mother-in-law and brought her Korean food.
Her husband was charged with abusing the elderly and after being released from jail ordered not to go within 100 feet of his mother or 500 feet of their residence.
