Mohammed Farah, 19, who was shot dead in Milton Keynes last night. He was chased down an alleyway before being blasted in the head

A Somali teenager was shot dead and another is fighting for his life after being gunned down last night.

The 19 year old, named locally as Mohammed Farah, was blasted in the head at close range in an alleyway on a council estate in Milton Keynes, Bucks.

His 18-year-old friend was also shot in the head. He remains in a life-threatening condition in hospital under armed guard.

This morning, as news of the attack spread, a small crowd of Somali women gathered at the scene of the shootings.

The dead teenager's uncle, Ahmed Hassan said: 'This is terrible news. From what I have been told he was being chased down the street and someone at the corner of the road shot him.

'Another person was shot as well. I don't know what it was about.'

The murdered teenager, whose parents are Somali, planned to go to university next year.

Police said it was too early in the investigation to have a motive for the shooting, which took place in Fishermead Boulevard just after 10pm.

Its really a tragic case. Its true Milton Keynes is a beautiful town. But its far from peaceful. There is actually alot of crime in the estate where the shooting happened. Somalis in Milton Keynes are generally peaceful, hardwroking people. Apart from a few youth that have entered the cycle of drug trade and youth gangs. Sadly, this is one of the most shocking stories in Milton Keynes in many many years.

Yes, the Youth has definitely a problem. A problem that we the Somali community need to tackle. The problem is in Milton Keynes where I live there are over 10 Somali communities in this small town where barely 3000 Somalis live. We need unity to act up to these serious issues facing our community.

Here a true story about me. Walaahi It is very very true about me back in 2001. There was 17 african American coming in toward me. I usually do not look at the people face. My sense could not resist there is something fishy about it. I have to decide quickly what should I do. Walaahi I only credit to Allah for my courage and my intention to save my life. Allah knows best what has happened. The first guy throw a punch straight on my face but it come too short. I grabbed his hand and he fell down to the ground. I was smilling. The rest run away from me. It was Allah that make it easy for me. Here is what they did to me later. I forget all of that fight. Next day while I was coming back from cub food. They come behind me and hit me with baseball. I was knock down and I was in coma for for 9 straight hours. Even though I was so skinny Somali male. Those niggas never try to face me face ot face. I was told another female african american who knew the person who hit me has been killed. She told 9 month later. That nigga hit me hard.

Thank God his dead now.

In the last hour, it has been confirmed that the wounded friend of the guy who got killed, also died of his gunshot wounds through the head. He was believed to be from London. A double tragedy indeed.

From close sources I have been told that the two guys were friends and recently returned from Dhaqancelis in Hargeysa. On the other hand, all over the media you hear Somali or origins from Somalia. You wont hear he was a Somalilander or reer xamar etc. Illahay ha u naxariisto labada wiil, ehelkoodana samir iyo imaan ilaahay ha ka siiyo. One lesson we as Somalis have to learn is that Unity both at home (family cohesiveness) and as a community is the success of our children.
