Computer Science or Engineering?

Post by IRONm@N »

Which major is better when it comes to job market, income, toughness in graduating?
are there any computer science graduates that are looking for work? what about any engineers?
basically I'm thinking about switching from Computer science to Electrical engineering, they is little change, they both the same in core course requirements.

I would rather encourage you computer science. Because you obtain both mathematicals skills and design that engineer requires.

So Afisoone, you have a computer science degree right? did you get anything with it or you unemployed, since you on Somalinet 24/7?

Some ppl say engineering is better for the overal market, and pay better, but its tough and some what boring AutoCAD design. computer science is cool and fun but its outsourced more, and may be outdated and need new skills after five or 10 years or so.

do not do computer science..
i repeat do not do it...

fo every job you apply for there are 20 indians who are better qualified, experienced and willing to work for 1/4 of your paycheck..

do Engineering...
electronic/electrical or something else..

less competition

I heard engineering is very stable and pay better, but ppl say its dry and boring or that its tough, the workload and the homework, you won't have a social life for 4yrs.

They'll both make you a decent amount of money in the short term, but you'll always be under threat of losing your job to freashies a few years out in the job market.

why dont somalis go into trades?

skilled tradesmen are in such high demand that they make as much as doctors and lawyers in australia..

i dont know how it is in the US..

probably not well payed, because you have mexicans willing to work for less and no unions, and in the UK and Europe you have Poles and other eastern Europeans who have skills but willing to work for less.

the trade or the service or manufacturing industry is nothing in America, you don't need college to go into that, high school drop outs do that.

Go for Computer science sxb. The whole world is going computers. Mechanical engineering is preferrable to Electrical engineering. both degrees are strong though. Think of Your Maths and Physics skills if you want to go for Engineering.

But does computer science degree work in Africa and other developing countries? engineering is needed badly, even UAE needs more engineers.

dude, whatever you do. don't do electrical.I know at least 4 people who got EE and driving yellow cabs and two others that live in their mom's basement.its like the queerest Engineering major with the least job creation,a combination of the two degrees would make u really stand out though.but if u had to pick.computer engineering that's where its at,u don't even need an employer with that.most fresh graduates are trying their luck with entrepreneurship and starting their own companies and there is so many grants and initiatives put in place now to nurture the entrepreneurship of all the tech wizzes .even most tech company employees ending up leaving their employer in few years time and venture out on their own.its got lot of freedom and flexibility there I would wager.

If are good at programming but have deficiencies in physics and math, then you should do computer science.however,if you have a good grasp of advanced topics in math like laplace transform and fourier series but programming seems complicated for you ,you should choose engineering.
computer engineering or system engineering is recommended for students who are equally good at both programming and math as system engineering is a combinatory field of electronics ,programming and machanical engineering.

Engineering requires a lot of discipline and a tolerance for getting Cs

Computer Science will guarantee you a job in the DC area... Like a week after you graduate
Although you also need to develop a tolerance for bad grades here
