when it comes to understand issues relating asylum seekers, refugee and educating the Australian public about diversity, harsh realities of people in war torn countries a lot more than the rest of the world
there is a huge debate in Australian society right now when it comes to the treatment of refugees and asylum seekers, a prominent Australian TV network has created a program called 'Go back to your country' where they take 6 very narrow minded Australians with very strong negative views of refugees (much like the rest of the country) and asylum seekers that came to the country by boat or other means which are all either legal or illegal. Getting them to meet some refugees and asylum seekers and putting them through life changing experiences and making them take the same steps these refugees and asylum seekers took to get to Australia. The program has done so much for Australia in general because the whole country is talking about this issue right now and it already had profound effect on how average Australians see refugees and asylum seekers or even people of color in general.
It also turn the public against the government and the laws they have in place against refugees and asylum seekers.
The program is called 'Go back to your country' and you can watch the episodes on http://www.sbs.com.au
