Destroyed Somalia in what way? The only result of the Somali civil war was the destruction of the capital that wasn't even built by Somalis and Somalis returning to their tribal regions which is more natural. I think the civil war meant that the Somali nation was destroyed and the Somali people were revived by putting them in their natural settings.

Who knew a spoiled rich kid turned revolutionary would totally change the hierarchy of east african power. Through his sacrifice and military deciciveness Fidel Castro Ruz sent 15,000 Cuban paramilitary forces to aid Marxist Ethiopia against the Somali incursion. Subsequently, Somalia lost its key economic and strategic ally: the Soviet Union. This lead to the economic collapse of Somalia and had a detrimental effect on the people. The Siad Barre regime became increasingly reliant on structured loans from the IMF and the World Bank, this led to a spike in food prices, another blow to the already poverty-stricken region. As a result, the public became more restless thus the regime took extreme measures: that lead to the torture, unlawful arrest and execution of countless Somalis who felt dissatisfied with the current regime.

This led to armed rebel groups, i.e, SNM, SSDF and the USC which led to civil war and the current state we are today.
