When to purchase flight tickets?

When are flight tickets cheaper?? Like I know during the holidays it gets really high and the prices are crazy plus not to forget about the amount of people traveling during that time? so I was planning on leaving for winter break inshallah i just want to know when to purchase the tickets? if i do it now its like people are still traveling for summer so prices may still be up then comes fall i dont know much of whats going on then or who even wants to travel during that time and then winter time inwhich i want to leave but then people will be traveling then as well

Either you buy them in advance like three months to 7months or pack your bag and buy a ticket for a plane that departs today or within hours.
