In Sanaag they don't call it Jaandheer, it is known as a Ciyaar Jiidali or ciyaar ceeri, all Sanaag clans share this tradion but Nalaye Axmeds are considered to be best dancers of Jandheer in Sanaag.
Nalaye Axmed Chief Caaqil called Shidane was like the Shakespeare of Janddheer in Sanaag and this is one of his famous songs;
"HADAAN LOO CAGA CAGAYN
HADAAN LOO CEERIGAABAYN
HADAAN CALI NALAYE KA BOODAYN
HADAAN CAGTA LOOGA CIIL BIXIN"

Sanaag region:
Sanaag is very mountainous. It's where the highest peak in Somalia is located (Shimiris)
I think it is an old Somali and not matter we, Somalis, claim nowadays, we are definitely an ancient race whose language has gone through many transformations. Look at the lyrics and try to come up a meaning!

Northerners have many different dances in each region. Naw its not buranbur..Its how they talk in the north when they are dancing and they do buranbur too but its not that popular. The south have few dances but its known for nikko which is a Bantu influence brought to Somalia. If anything Northerns are the only ones keeping the true Somali culture alive and keeping it till now they don't do Arabic dances or bantu niikko.
