Re: The Greatest Islamic Scholar alive!
I think this guy is very good, i was recently listening to one of his khutbahs in bed about the mahdi, it's almost two hours long but very good. He also touches up on a few other subjects during the talk:
Another favourite of mine if the return of the caliphate by Imran Hossien.
Have you heard of the south african called Sheikh Shady? I don't know anything about him but he's got an excellent series viewable on youtube about the prophets starting from Adam.
Most of the videos he's got up there are very lengthy as well. A good listen

Re: The Greatest Islamic Scholar alive!
I don't know about other countries but somalis have just many street/internet preachers out there. Most of them have no degree and their arguments could be scrutinised and falsified by kids. In particular, somalis preachers are morally corrupt, are allied to warlords, are tribalistists. If you argue with them or reason rationally, they will call you lost.
In the good old days before the onset of the wahabi preachers, somali islamic scholars were careful in uttering words/fatwa. They were there as a social agents. There was hierarchy; you became a quran teacher (moalim), then xir and then sheikh (wisdom).
What we are witnessing today is a bunch of wahabis, or wahabi inspired scholars who have turned our faith upside/down. They have created a discourse that is draconian, a prima vista it maybe argued that they are spreading/preaching about arabic culture and not islam.
To conclude, islamic scholarship is not about talking. It is about wisdom to pass knowledge.
