People all of the sudden weep for Somalis caught in drought!
And just three months earlier the nomadic communities in both north and northeast Somalia were on the brink of a humanitarian crisis following poor rains that have created severe water and food shortages. In some places 30 to 40 percent of the livestock has died, and what little livestock were left had been deemed so weak to even be sold, much less used for milk and meat. Alhamdulillah the rain have come, but what an unforgettable drought it was since it has created much suffering and misery, and still the nomadic communities who had been forced to escape to major towns haven yet to recover fully.
But now that it seems parts in central and southern Somalia are suffering the same fate, people are all of the sudden making noises about wanting to help ease their suffering. But while the nomadic communities up north and northeast Somalia were on the brink of humanitarian catastrophe this past March, nobody even bothered to shed tears for them... very troubling to say the least.
Nacalaa Somali iyo their double standard ku taal!

It's actually people with mentality like yours that need be shot as there's no cure to rid of what you suffer from, You dont even see how fuked up ur logic is? When u saw those starving children, the first thought that popped in ur head was "what did the other people think or do about situation x" and the second one was "there's probably starving child in "puntland" another word for majeerteen that really needs my help". You have no concept of Islaamnimo, Somalinimo etc just a brain that has been taking over by qabyaalad. When I saw those pics of the kids and their mothers in dire strait etc, my first thought was to help, I didn't ask where they were from, what region, what qabiil etc. You need help man. Everything is not always they vs us.

^Why should I be shot when I like millions of other Somalis happen to be just a victim of "Boli qaran ku nooshii" and the gun wielding Mooryaan which ensued after. My family left for America and my kin for their ancestral land, as for my "fuked up logic" I've just put things into perspective for you, Somalis inconsistency and fakeness is incurables even at our nations darkest hour: hence your user avatar, so spare me the crocodile tears.

I can't think of the level of sickness and lack of humanity that would cause any Somali to look with tribal lenses something even foreigners are calling "the worst drought in the Horn of Africa in 60 years" and caused Hillary Clinton to tell USAID its most important immediate objective is to to avert a humanitarian crisis there.
btw here is an AFP map...if this was your way of trying to say Puntland is "safe"....I wouldn't call a "crisis" designation as "safe"

What you tried to compare to normal and recurrent food shortage, here is the UN's observations verbatim

"Two consecutive poor rainy seasons have resulted in one of the driest years since 1950/51 in many pastoral zones," the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs told a media briefing.

Voltage,
Indeed, the worst natural disaster in 60 years has met man-made violence in Somalia, number one on a global list of failed states. As Somalis people it is our responsibility to help our brothers and sisters who are in need, and no my relatives in northeast Somalia don't fair better then any other Somalis caught up in this mess. Rather you fail to understand my point which is, that the wider Somali community when they think of the drought stricken areas; the northeast doesn't even cross their mind. Logic though would reason, that the largely ignored northeast Somalia do to its environment has always been the first to be affected in any projected drought.
Fact: before this drought even spread to the rest of the country it was the north mainly northeast Somalia that has been struggling for 3 long f-king months till that is the recent forecasted rains gave them some break. It's funny how Somali refugees filling camps like dhadhaab in Kenya and others in southeast Ethiopia all of sudden manage to upgrade the drought forecasted in much of northeast Somalia before it even affected them into "the worst natural disaster in 60 years" just now. Even Somalinet seems to be just waking up.
Again no point in turn such a legit claim into something meant to glorify the very thing I'm trying to pervent here, and that is the life's of the mother and child starving in both north and in particular northeast Somalia are as important to ignore too.

D-Runner needs a serious intervention.

Re: People all of the sudden weep for Somalis caught in drou
It seems like your only concern is Puntland. Puntland gets more assistance than Al-Shabab controlled areas so stop crying about double standards, its not as if you care about the people in south anyway. Worst drought in 60 years plus a long ongoing conflict = disastrous situation, the least we should do is pray for them insha'allah.

Horn of Africa drought: Survival of the fittest
http://www.garoweonline.com/artman2/pub ... test.shtml
There are many mothers like Mrs Haji. One of them said how she left her sick child on the road because he was too weak to make the journey to Kenya.Burdened by other small children, she left him in the desert."His eyes still haunt me to this day," she told us.Rukiyo Maalim Noor too has been travelling for the past 20 days. She has a one-month-old baby.
"We just took off. We could not stay because of the drought. There was no food, nothing to give to the children,'' she said.
