Hijab Etiquette
If a girl doesn't normally wear the Hijab or loose-fitting clothes and she's planning to attend an Islamic function, should she at least look the part and wear the Hijab with an cabaayad since she's gonna be at an event exclusively for Muslims and, therefore, dress modestly accordingly?
If yes, isn't that hypocritical since God Sees her everywhere she is, so she's pretty much wearing it for the people, hence doing it for all the wrong reasons?
If no, is it disrespectful of her to show up at an Islamic event wearing capris and a tank top if that's how she normally dresses?
By the way, it can be a guy wearing baggy jeans with long tee's too...I just used females with a hijab as an example.

Re: Hijab Etiquette
It is hypocritical to wear an abaya and hijaab just because you are going to an Islamic event.
It is rude to wear a tank top to an Islamic event, even gaalo women wouldn't do that.
Why not wear a modest outfit that respects the code and still not cover your hair if you're not a hijaabi?

Hi Qoraxeey...it can be a guy wearing baggy jeans with long tee's too...I just used females with a hijab as an example.
BV, I mean if you normally wear certain clothes in general that aren't looked too favorably upon in Islam. Maybe a tanktop is a bit over the top, but I mean like a t-shirt and knee-length skirt. If you don't "come as you are" and dress how you normally dress, isn't changing your attire for the circumstance hypocritical since you're only dressing more Islamically acceptable cuz you know you're going to be in an Islamic setting?

Re: Hijab Etiquette
I draw the line at cabaaya and hijaab. If said girl wears a longer skirt and a long sleeved top she's not being hypocritical, just respectful to the event organisers. It's like people who wear denim to weddings or colourful outfits to funerals, if you're going to someone else's event, fit the dress code.

Young yes she should always look the part, even if it is in contradictory to the way she normally dresses. I can't believe we have such questions, always look the part and never discourage her from not looking the part.

Re: Hijab Etiquette
PO, I don't think you completely understood what I was saying. I was looking at it in the sense that if you're not gonna do something for God, you shouldn't do it for the people. But the way BV explained it made sense, it's a matter of being respectful of the occasion and not necessarily doing it for the people.
The way I was looking at it was like someone who doesn't usually pray, except when they go somewhere where people are praying...that kind of thing.

Re: Hijab Etiquette
Yung, I know the point you're trying to make and it seems that people are deliberately avoiding to give straight answer as that might ...... you know.
And yeah, it's. You hear a lot of stories that girls who normally wear their denims go to a religious ceremony ('cause Hibaaq, Sahra & Anab are attending) so they dress appropriately since there are going to be 100's of eyes; looking and judging eyes. The funny thing is, as soon as the ceremony finishes and they are out of the door they get their jeans & tight shirts out of bags and change into them.
Why would one be afraid of people if they aren't afraid of their creator?

That's exactly what I was getting at...being more concerned with the reaction and not the action itselfTwist wrote:Yung, I know the point you're trying to make and it seems that people are deliberately avoiding to give straight answer as that might ...... you know.![]()

Re: Hijab Etiquette
Because it's an islamic event and they cover themselves out of respect for the skiekhs who came there to make dacwah.
Only a brainless would show up half naked.2 month ago i went to this islamic event and some girls who walk around in skinny jeans and never wore xijaab in their entire life, showed up wearing niqaab. That is a bit to much if you ask me,Ka badbadiska ma fiicna.
