I was reading this story about an old chap, who was arrested and convicted for doing his gardening naked.

Is nudity offensive and if so, should the nudists be placed on sex offender register?

Nudity is offensive, no questions about it. One's should always cover when they are outside. If person is outside in public place without any clothes then he should be arrested and placed in sex offenders list. Person have no real reason to be naked in public place other than showing off his/her genitals and it increases the chance to get raped and the children shouldn't be watching naked person.

I was reading on another source (print) not web saying that the neighbors had seen him masturbating on occasion.

That makes it very different/complicated story or does it? Why is masturbation or any sex act offensive? Is it because it is threatening in someway?

Why have sex in the countryside? Ofcoz it is not necessary for it to be a desire for others to see you or the thrill of possibly being caught, it is a change of format, variety being the spice of life and all that stuff

Definitely should get arrested for public indecency but it is taking it too far to put him on the sex offender list.

Fascinating enough it is well known that these type of people, do it as its the only reaction they get from people.
They do it for attention by showing the world where they lack, and thus put all their shortcomings on display.

He should get a misdemeanor, not on the sex offender list. Only actual sex offenders belong in that category.

Forget all that, topless guys should be arrested. If a girl was to go topless, there would've been accidents AND she would've been stopped for nudity but guys can walk around shirtless.

It's actually legal for women to be topless in public in Canada...I support that freedom with every bone in my body, some more than others

As for the thread, that dude should be arrested for indecent exposure but the sex offender list is too far...there are lifetime rapists and diddlers on that list, this guy is just a freak.

He should be fined for gardening though...WTF.
