The one thing that baffles me in gabi is, in this age and time where different musical instruments are utilized, how can someone just sit on a chair and keep talking for hours? And how could someone listen for hours?

Words are powerful and some people are able to use them to conjure emotions by just using the right ones, the thing about gabay is that it has rhythm and rhyme which is its music, if you listen you can see that it’s not recited in one tone. The beauty of the Somali language

Mureedi, gabay is not just a Somali art but an international one. Poem in English & She3r (Shicir) in Arabic to name a few.

Literature has many different branches and not all of them want musical instruments to be recited.
