H2O, anyone?

Astronomers have discovered a reservoir containing 140 trillion times the amount of water in all the Earth's oceans, making it the largest mass of water ever detected in the universe.

"The environment around this quasar is unique in that it's producing this huge mass of water," Matt Bradford, a Caltech visiting associate and NASA scientist said in a press release. "It's another demonstration that water is pervasive throughout the universe, even at the very earliest times."

Quasars are extremely luminous and compact galactic nuclei fueled by a central and supermassive black hole.

Wired UK offers a bit more perspective:

This quasar holds a black hole that's 20 billion times more massive than the sun, and after gobbling down dust and gas it belches out as much energy as a thousand trillion suns. The water vapor is spread around the black hole in a gaseous region spanning hundreds of light years.
Regarding light years, the quasar's incredible distance from Earth reveals an age when the universe itself was a youthful 1.6 billion years old. At roughly 12 billion light years away, it's also the farthest water reservoir ever discovered.

In other quasar discovery news, another group of European scientists recently pinpointed the largest and most distant quasar in the universe, located approximately 13 billion light years from Earth.

Wether in magnification or Observation of the micro, creation is amazing.

10. Hypervelocity Stars

If you've ever gazed at the night sky, you've probably wished upon a shooting star (which are really meteors).

But shooting stars do exist, and they're as rare as one in 100 million.

In 2005, astronomers discovered the first "hypervelocity" star careening out of a galaxy at nearly 530 miles per second (10 times faster than ordinary star movement).

We have ideas about what flings these rare stars into deep space, but aren't certain; anything from off-kilter supernova explosions to supermassive black holes might be responsible.

Complete bullshit.

They want to ease their souls from the inevitable. They want to give themselves a sense of hope, of going beyond this worldly life, and achieving immortality.

Hope has shaped human civilization. Without hope mankind would not have built the pyramids. You exist because you have the capacity to hope, you are the product of your parents hope to continue their respective bloodlines and to one day have you pray for their soul's to recieve mercy.

Hope on...

hope and immortality my d1ck,this is purely commercial.the super powers fascination with water in the moon and other places in the universe is because they wanna mine the moon for an element called Helium3 which creats powerful clean nuclear fusion without the radiation just like the sun.the logic is if they have water in those places then they can maintain a human lives in it for a long period of time by using water for drinking, separating oxgygen and hydrogen and use it breathing abviously.several nations have already committed billions to minning helium-3,this is all about securing the next energy source

this is how a futuristic moon mine would look like

It's times like this I am reminded how miniscule and insignificant we are,
my mind goes crazy just thinking about what's on these other planets, galaxies etc.

Seriously, a horrible shame that NASA is getting the cold shoulder.

But I'm curious to see what will happen when space travel hits the private sector. Might see some improvement, who knows?
