The Mother of All Debates: The Jihad vs Crusade

Greetings Silly Baboons,

The presense of Mujahid/Crusader Meru (aka obbo Patriot) made me compare the Crusade and Jihad.
Can we say, dear Snetters, that Crusade was what Jihad is for Muslims? a collective effort to defeat the enemy (pagan, muslim, communist russia etc..)
Can we condemn the Crusaders taking over Jerusalem in the 11th century without condemning the Ottoman conquest of Constantinople in mid 15 century?
Wat is in your opinion the fundamental difference between these two concepts.

Of course we can adopt the easy way saying that what mulslims did was good and the others were a bunch of terrorist

Please debate in the courteous possible way.

Shrib, we are comparing the two concepts, not a particular jihad to a particular Crusade.
We are not comparing the number of victims they made.

omar ibn khadaab wars were jihaaad because of omar did not let hes children to inherite the goverment kursi unlike UMayyads and ottomons.

Ummayads war had nothing to do whit religios jihaad, its was pure powerstrugle, umayad fough against CALI BIN ABI DAALIB, and killed the children of prophet mohameds xuseen and hes children , the only reasons the killed was keep the goverment power inside ummayad clan.

and all after that ummayad leaders was clan family dynasty marka i do not call umayyad war as jihaad. but ottomons actually i like them though they where too inheretance system but they were geesiyaal

Religion should be about philosophy and law, not swords guns and death. Defending your religion is one thing, but attacking other people because they have a different religion or to advance your religion, that's sort of going against what religion is supposed to be about in the first place.
