Nasa was just close down 2 weeks ago.

I don't think NASA will exist, as it once did, ten years from now.
I'm certain when they decide to cut all funds, all the probes and scopes will be left to float on as space junk.

I've said this more than once, but it's a damn shame.

I hope the private sector steps in. Yes, they'll milk the industry for all it's worth, but I think development will occur at a much quicker rate.

I think governments with war on the mind did, not the private sector.

Private companies wont be using their money for research but for space travels to the moon or sum stupid shit like that. Profit profit profit. And now that Nasa is gone, private companies will fill the spot.

I disagree. Private sector allowed science to flourish. The development of technologies placed in the hands of scientists allowed for discoveries impossible without the private sector. I think had the CPU been put in the hands of the governments, technological development would have been stagnant, at best. If the private sector can do for space exploration what Intel, AMD, Microsoft, Nvidia, IBM/Nazis and Apple have done for the personal computing experience, than I'm all for it (given the absence of concentration camps). Highly developed space exploration technology in the hands of all sorts of people will benefit everyone. Limit it to the government, and it'll end up to rot as it has in dingy basement laboratories. Even if it does start of with Space/Moon/Mars Hotels, exploration is elemental, since not only is it the first step, but the end that drives us.

To boldly go where no one has gone before, is what I'm after.

Nothing good comes out of capitalism when it has reached space.

So you say, as you most certainly have used capitalist satellites in your life, possibly even at this very moment.

C'mon.

Find a cure for cancer for diabetes for dementia...find ways to be able to get rid of domestic and industrial waste that doesnt involve dumping or polluting the environment. Invest in technology that will directly improve the quality of life of present and future Humans instead of wasting money and effort on what types of bacteria if any are in some far off planet.

Space exploration is an expensive and financially unjustifiable cold war relic that just needs to go away.
