Re: Latest Somaliland Rap song By Some Qurbo-Joogs
I dont know about rap, but it has been widely known that somaliland singers have been mostly paid by the state to sing about the somaliland perspective.
I remember hearing a song months ago by somaliland singers.
Basicly the message was the seccecion of somaliland and at the same time urging somalis from kilika 5aad to remain with their ethiopian brothers in freedom.
Needless to say i was disgusted, but at the same time it was obvius the goverments pro ethiopian stance was chanelling itself through music so to influence the everyday somalis in the streets of somaliland.
Back to this video. I always wonder how they could sing and dance next to a flag with the shahada on it. It seems like an oxymoron. Well i guess i shouldnt be suprised anymore since tribalism has reached the rap scene. But why is malcolm x there? There was atleast 3 official somalilands at his time, he might have meant the birtish one but still. It seems as the video maker or rapper dont know that somalia was created through mergin two entities. The south was just as somaliland as the north. So calling north somalia "somaliland" while the south is somalia isnt logical.
