Keeping Track of the Drought Victim Money
Make it a sticker please, to monitor and keep track of the money that is pledged and donated to the Somali drought victims.
*donation of $60 million by Saudi King Abdullah and $10 million by Kuwait to Somalia, to be distributed by the OIC.
*The United Nations' top humanitarian and relief official, Valerie Amos, said $1 billion has been received from donors in emergency meeting in Rome on Monday. but that "we need another billion."
*The World Bank on Monday pledged more than $500 million, with the bulk of the money set to go towards long-term projects to aid livestock farmers while $12 million would be for immediate assistance to those worst hit by the crisis.
*The European Commission said it would immediately give a further 28 million euros ($40 million) on top of the 70 million euros it has given the region this year.
*the US pledged an additional $28 million in aid for the drought crisis on top of more than $431 million in emergency assistance to the Horn of Africa this year
*Turkey's Kızılay said four planes full of food and humanitarian aid will be dispatched to Somalia “very soon.”
*The International Red Cross on Sunday said it had handed out 400 tonnes of food in drought-hit areas controlled by the hardline Shebab insurgents, the first ICRC-led drops into such areas since 2009.

Somali Diaspora Community Donation
*Somalis community in Minneapolis have helped raised roughly $100,000 for the American Refugee Committee, including $47,000 at a single event last week.
*Another group, Amoud Foundation, reported raising $94,000 from the Minneapolis/St.paul in less than two weeks.* Abdiaziiz Maahaay of Rochester Minnesota, recently has received donations from across the U.S. and has almost filled a 40-foot container with formula and food, but doesn't yet have enough money to ship it.
*a small Somali community fundraiser in Nashville, raised approximately $4,000 .
*MUNEER SOCIAL DEVELOMENT ASSOCIATION oo marka lasoo gaabiyo loo yaqaano (MUSDA) in Minnesota, collected $2055 from post road workers and it was given to disable individuals in mogadishu on Wendsday, each recieving about $10 to $20.
If you have numbers from Somali community in Europe and Canada please submit.

Geneva - The UN raised its Horn of Africa humanitarian appeal on Friday to $2.48bn for 12.4 million drought-hit people, warning that famine could spread across the region if donors default.
