Dilema About Donation's For Somalia???

Post by King-of-Awdal »

We have raised and still are raising Money for Somalia among my friend's and have even enlisted some of our University Professor's, Mosque's and Even Churche's to help us raise the Money and so far it's going well, but here is the Issue am facing. Where and who to Donate to. I have seen some account's by many Agencies in Somalia using Dhabshiil and Qaran but are they trust worthy. I dont want the money ending up for any purpose other than feeding people and the biggest Issue and concern we have is Al Shabab. Plus we are going to need proof that what we sent did feed the people it was intended for. If some of you could direct me to some Organization's it would be of great help. The Reason for the Concern for Al Shabab is many of the people who are involved who are actually Non-Somali did research and have come to the conclusion that none of them want their money or charity ending up with Al Shabab and as one of the Somali's involved i have been assigned to recommend an organization in Southern Somalia which is difficult for me since i have no connection to the place. Any help would be really appreciated.

The international red cross for Somalia is where I would say donate to. They seem to have a proven track record and are still now the only Western aid agency not banned by AL Shabaab so they are still working in the affected areas.

Thank's i guess that's a start, what about other organization's since all the Money will not be going to one charity, it would be very helpfull if you get atleast three agencies all operating in different area's. I have seen some Somali' Organization's and even the Goverment that have set up account's but how trust worthy are they?

I wouldn't put a dime in Somali government coffers or accounts and Somali organizations are divided up into two classes when talking about something as major as this famine; 1.) those that do not have the logistics to make use of your money as effectively as you would like and 2.) those that serve as a front for other shady non-Somali NGO's.
