I wish Somalis in Europe and the States would go and adopt those kids who lost their parents due to the Famine. It truly breaks my heart, and I wanted to adopt a kid but someone told me you can't adopt a child if you're not married. .

LOL are you serious cuz? What Somali person would want to adopt a white kid and an asian kid? Wallahi it breaks my heart, Alot of these other races are going to adopt our children, and treat them however they want. I want them all to grow up in a Muslim household, with Somali guardians but that's just my dream. And I hope it comes true sooner or later.

I don't know how serious they were about "adopting" in the first place but they preferred little "cadaan, indhayar" girls to raise and when I asked why not a Somali child, it was always "war ciyaalka somali weey dhib badanyihiin" bullsh!t SMH

This will change when Angeline Jolie pulls starving abdi out of her handbag. Then I bet the xalimos would stampede to the adoption agency.

Advo is just over-exaggerating. If not, then...the reason might be based on Clan. If the child doesn't know what Clan he/she is, then no Somali would wanna raise another clan's child.

Not true. I dont think Somalis went that far yet... why not raise them when their marrying each other like no tomorrow..

Isn't it forbidden in Islam to adopt a child? I might be mistaken but I've read it somewhere that as Muslims we aren't allowed to adopt but only sponsor a child.

That is true.. By adopt in this case it can mean sponsor.. for the greater good and to get the child the paper work he/she needs you say adopt.. All that matters is he/she doesnt take your name cause his family name will be lost.
