The United Arab Emirates Red Crescent (UAERC) has dispatched to a number of camps in Somalia nearly 40 tonnes of essential food supplies sufficient for 1,000 families for one month.
In the coming weeks, the organisation said it will continue to dispatch aid to other camps where thousands of refugees were arriving in search of help in one of the worst famines in the Horn of Africa.
So far, the UAE team has reached 10 refugee camps in the capital city of Mogadishu.
It has also intensified efforts to improve the refugees’ health by sending medical convoys to the camps in coordination with the Somali Red Crescent.
