Re: Dry Farming in SSC
Not a bad idea. How much rain does SSC receive annually? I think they said the test area in the video received about 12 inches annually. That is about 305mm annually.

anywhere between 200-400mm.check out this map

But the thing about dry farming is,the used seeds are drought resistant GMO that can survive on minimum amount of rainfall

Samadoon, you won't be the first.
Ninkii la odhan jiray Abdi Badhi ee Caraale Mahad started Dry Farming in Gobolka Sool, waliba areas near Boocame in the early 1990s, lakinse...nasib daro, he was killed in Laascaanood back in 1995 or 1996.
Today, his Farming would've been amongst the BEST in Northern Somalia, if he would've been alive.

was he Caraale Mahad?I thought Cabdi Badhi was reer wacays Adan
But at least small scale farming in Boocame and other Sool areas continue to thrive,as well as taleex and Bixin. But Farming needs to be introduced proper to the hawd areas of ssc.Its time we make use of the southern IDP populations in those areas

No, he was Caraale Mahad. Like you said, proper farming needs to be introduced. For example, Garam-Garam, a die-hard Reer Kismaayo, born and bred in Jubooyinka is well acquainted with Dhulbahante of Jubooyinka, like Hussein Ugaas subclan of Ugaas Shirshore, who mainly live in Kismaayo and Jubaada Hoose. I'm pretty sure, there are Dhulbahante farmers in Jubooyinka and they should be brought to SSC to teach those people how to farm and build few farming projects.samadoon-waaxid wrote:was he Caraale Mahad?I thought Cabdi Badhi was reer wacays AdanBut at least small scale farming in Boocame and other Sool areas continue to thrive,as well as taleex and Bixin. But Farming needs to be introduced proper to the hawd areas of ssc.Its time we make use of the southern IDP populations in those areas

Re: Dry Farming in SSC
Samadoon, what's so funny? Aren't there any Dhulbahante farmers, at least...one or two families that have their own farming land?
What's the point of living in a Fertile land, if you're not doing any farming?
I guess, the Bantus are like the Mexicans in America. Cheap labor and very hard workers.
Import the Bantus into SSC. Did you know that, planting the seed of a Date-Palm Tree will take 25 years to grow? After that, you milk it, meaning...you reap the dates every season and it'll grow back the next season.
