I was reminded of this when I was looking through an old topic with pics of Lamu on the Swahili Coast. From Mombasa to pretty much Xamar was inhabited for centuries by large populations of near-eastern cultural groups, below are pics of Lamu, highlighting what cities like Marka, Baraawe, and parts of Kismayo and Xamar looked like - never to be seen again.

Physically, there's still traces of those cultures on those shores and the appearance of the cities themselves (Marka, Kismayo, Xamar, Baraawe) still look identical to their Kenyan coastal counterparts - just with the addition of undesirable Galguduudian elements.

They must be pissed off that Somalis from Eastleigh are starting to buy property in their cities of Lamu and Mombasa, I hear they hate Somalis with a passion.
